A. Karen's Kids® characters decorate hundreds of products. Ask your local school supply store or check online for manufacturers of Karen's Kids® products. Also, look for product on this site.

Q. Can I get a Karen's Kids® catalog?
A. We invite you to contact the manufacturers and retailers who sell Karen's Kids® products. Click on Resources: Retailers, Manufacturers and Licensees of Karen's Kids® to contact a particular company.

Q. How can I become a retailer of Karen's Kids® products?
A. Karen licenses her images and/or the product she creates to manufacturers who make, market and distribute the products worldwide.

Q. Can I use Karen's Kids® images and/or art to decorate my website?
A. Unfortunately, no. Karen's artwork is owned and copyrighted by Karen Frandsen and can be used legally only by her company and companies that are licensed to manufacture her products. Other than product photos, using Karen's Kids® images on your website is considered a violation of United States Copyright Law.

Q. I want to make T-shirts, mugs, placemats, etc. for my school, group, organization. Can I do that?
A. Contact Menagerie Publishing to view a wide selection of colorful shirts personalized with your group's name and/or slogan.

Q. Can I copy Karen's artwork from the web to use for my personal use and/or in my website?
A. Unfortunately, no. The artwork in this site is copyrighted by Karen Frandsen and can be used legally only be her company and companies that are licensed to make her products. Other than product photos, using Karen's Kids® images on your website is considered a violation of United States Copyright Law.

Q. I saw Karen's Kids® images at a trade show where someone was selling CDs containing Karen's Kids but the name was different. Was that a Karen's Kids product?
A. No. The company you saw illegally copied and produced a knock-off using Karen's Kids images. We appreciate our customers who help to monitor illegal use of 'the kids'.

Q. Is there actually a Karen who draws the kids?
A. Yes, Karen lives in San Diego. She created 'the kids' as well as picture books and products containing the kids including posters, games, cards, dolls and interactive CDs. Find our more about Karen at our About Us page and about new CDs on our Resources page.

Q. Our school/church/group/center/office wants to make a mural using Karen's Kids® images/drawings. Is that ok?
A. The clip art images are great for enlarging and creating colorful murals and/or bulletin boards using butcher paper, or other sturdy material within the classroom and/or for personal use. The use of images for commercial purposes, advertising, billboards and/or commercial signs require a Licensing Agreement.

Q. Can I use Karen's Kids® images on all of my classroom activity sheets and/or school flyers and communications?
A. Yes. The purpose of the clip art images is to support you in creating documents for personal/or classroom use and on most other items that are not for commercial use and not for sale, nor for website use. For a wide variety of great ideas on how to use clip art, check out the many Karen's Kids® publications.

Q. May I make a pillow/T-shirt/blanket/plate, etc. for my child, grandchild, child's teacher, etc. using Karen's Kids characters?
A. Yes. For all you creative customers out there who design and make your own gifts and projects, making items for personal use and/or for gifts for nonprofit and noncommercial and not-for-sale use is fine.

Q. May I use Karen's Kids® images to illustrate my book?
A. Once your manuscript has been accepted, and if you and your publisher feels that Karen's images would complement your story or theme, please contact Karen at Karen's Kids licensing (address below). We LOVE new projects. Please do not send manuscripts directly to Karen or Karen's Kids. Karen's Kids images may not be used on or in, copies of manuscripts nor on documents that are going to be submitted to publishers.

Q. I would like to use one of the images/characters, drawings as my logo. Is that ok?
A. Unfortunately, no. The images must be licensed to be used as a logo. However, the purchaser of Karen's Kids® clip art may use clip art images on envelopes, flyers, and other documents and communications for classroom use or personal use and/or use on documents created for school, group activities, etc. Images may not be used for commercial projects or advertisements, nor on commercial documents or on items for sale.

Q. May we use images from posters/cards/products for a sign, stationery, event, etc?
A. Unfortunately, no. Karen's Kids® Clip Art is the only product that can be duplicated for school and/or personal use and/or use on documents created for school, group activities, etc. and only for nonprofit, noncommercial use unless it is licensed. Images from products like posters or cards may NOT be duplicated.


The World of Karen's Kids® characters is enchanting. A little of everyone's kids are a part of Karen's Kids®. Since 1980, these amusing and very real characters have continued to grow in popularity. They stand for helping and serving and taking care of each other. According to customers, their timeless and universal appeal warms the heart of adults and children today and will endure and enchant hearts for years to come.

United States Copyright Law. Passion, commitment, time, dedication and money all contribute to the creation of these images and the products they decorate. We are grateful for the laws that protect our rights. United States Copyright Law and international copyright treaties protect Karen's Kids® images. The owner of the copyright, Karen G. Frandsen, has the exclusive authority to reproduce and distribute and/or authorize others to reproduce and distribute the images and/or copyrighted work.
