About Karen's Kids Studio

Our Story

Karen's Kids characters hung from trees in my classrooms, peeked around  science lab tables and decorated lesson plans, awards and welcome back to school signs.  A New York publisher wanted to buy 10 illustrations to resell as clip art.  If he could do it, so could I,

My kids and I folded, addressed and sent flyers to local teachers.  My goal was 10 orders in 3 months. Over 300 orders came in within the next 2 months.  Karen's Kids Company opened, I hired an office manager and kept teaching.

Clip art and paper products are now downloadable. The clip art sets are for  people who like to design their own projects and the printable products are for teachers who want something they can print and use right away.  The best part of doing what I do (besides drawing and creating) is hearing from educators around the world.

Karen's Kids Characters

Runny noses, untied shoes, giggles, silly words, tears, sticky fingers, band aids, talking animals and monsters in the closet - a little of everyone's kids are a part of Karen's Kids.  There are eight main Karen's Kids characters and tons of their friends. One customer wrote, "A little of everyone's kids are a part of Karen's Kids."

Karen Frandsen

Born in North Dakota, raised in Los Angeles, and moved to San Diego to teach and raise a family.

My report cards said, "She daydreams...". I had a great childhood; school, doodling and make believe.

When I see kids - I see art:  colors, joy, pain, excitement and giggles. My kids, my grandkids, my school kids - they are magical, they make me smile and they inspire me to draw and create.

Karen's Kids Studio Mission

During 24 years of teaching it became apparent that my actions, my words, and the environment I created affected the students.  My mission is to promote integrity, honesty, respect and caring for others through the clip art, illustrations and printables I create and publish.

"...sharing, caring, working together, helping to make the world a better place..." ~Karen's Kids Motto
